We’re glad you’re here. For years, IPNav has successfully used its knowledge and experience to help patent owners monetize their IP. Today, IPNav endeavors to take a step, however minor, toward helping improve transparency and information available in the IP market. We believe that in a relatively short period of time that market will become larger, more accessible and, most importantly, far more efficient – the patents and related attributes themselves will trade more efficiently, litigation will be reduced and the number of market participants will increase dramatically (more on all of this in our future posts).
You are, of course, free to use the portal anonymously, but we encourage you to sign up – it’s free, it’s easy and it’s the way to make a difference. By joining the portal as a registered user, not only will you get the opportunity to make connections and network with your IP colleagues , you can more meaningfully participate in the market. Not only will you better connect with your peers, but by taking advantage of the following IPNav portal features, you will also find numerous opportunities to teach, learn and share:
- IP Professionals – A free, easy way to promote your organization and interface with other market participants, including your current and prospective clients, customers and partners
- Patent Tools -- Patent Tools has free offerings for advanced patent analysis and creation
- Marketplace – Got something to sell? Or something you need? Give Marketplace a try, where a sophisticated audience can appreciate what you’re offering and why or perhaps has just what you need. We think you’ll be surprised by the results you’ll see when you offer your products, services or post your requirements in this unique virtual IP market
- Library and Links – These are currently stocked with some of helpful forms and copies of relevant laws, rules and cases, not to mention favorite and informative web content. We look forward to your recommendations
- The Wiki – We encourage you to share your knowledge with others and look forward to the day when legal research for patent issues starts here. Like any wiki, this one will only be as good as the contributions its users make – so don’t hesitate to make recommendations and even take on the role of a wiki editor. Got knowledge? Put it here!
- Multimedia – Your opportunity to share with the group those materials, including your own creations, that you have found helpful or interesting. You know this business and your experience counts – share it with your colleagues
- Personal Blogs – We are not seeking to be the dominant voice and look forward to reading your thoughts, ideas, gripes, predictions, solutions, etc., but most of all we look forward to your contribution to the future of the IP market
- Forums and Groups – Two other ways to connect with colleagues, old and new, on topics of mutual interest or common projects. Recommend a forum topic that interests you and converse with others with similar interests. Better yet, volunteer to moderate the forum for topics or categories you have expertise in or just feel strongly about. Create a group for those working on a common project and share thoughts and ideas in real time without ever leaving the portal. Groups can be either public and available to all portal members or, when desired, private and limited to approved members
A lot depends on you. There’s no shortage of great minds that work in and around the IP space, and the task of combining that knowledge into a single repository is daunting, to say the least. But if you, like us, are tired of clicking through a dozen bookmarks, or looking for e-mail updates that get buried in your inbox, the portal is for you. Your favorite blogs and sites are already loaded into the widgets on the home page. Is there a favorite site that you’d like to see on a homepage widget? Request it on the forum, and we’d be glad to create it for you. This site will truly be whatever you, the community, make of it. The success of portal depends heavily on you, your participation and interaction, so we encourage you to go out and make it a good one! Contact us anytime with problems, suggestions, complaints or whatever is on your mind by clicking the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of every page.
