Patrick R. Anderson PLLC ("the Firm") engages clients that either own or desire to own valuable intellectual assets.  We are neither a "prep and pros" firm, nor a "litigation boutique."  Rather, the Firm relies on past experience of litigation and prosecution in order to counsel clients regarding the value if their intellectual property by focusing on the specific language of their respective patent claims.

The Firm believes that claims are key to understanding the value of any IP portfolio.  We don't look at IP as a pure numbers game.  To build value, you don't necessarily need to collect 10 patents, or 100 patents, or even 1000!  Value can only come from one source: reading the claims. 

Although claims are invaluable for pointing out the art-additive, understanding all aspects of a claim is critical in interpreting the "Thou shalt not" commandment that the claim represents.  Thus, our philosophy is simple: READ THE CLAIMS.

Company History:

The Firm traces its history back to a fateful Saturday morning, back in 2004, when Patrick was busy working in the Law Review office at Michigan State University.  A local attorney wandered in looking for a law student to lead a team of fellow students and provide research for one of his clients.  From that day forward, Patrick embraced the concept of the small practice.  After a brief time with a large firm, the desire for a small practice was confirmed.  Thus, in November of 2007, the Firm was formally re-organized as an LLC.
